Wisteria are perhaps one of the most memorable of all our climbing plants. In full flower they literally "cascade" with large racemes of often fragrant pea like flowers. Wisteria floribunda Violacea Plena, better known as Black Dragon or Yae-Kokuryū, is a superb deciduous climber that has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Black Dragon is a compact cultivar that has large racemes, of fragrant, pea-like, double violet purple flowers in May and June. The attractive light green leaflets emerge bronze and turn yellow in autumn. One of the more compact varieties it is suited to the smaller garden. Pefers a full sun location but will grow in semi shade in most free draining soils. It can easily be grown in a pot. Wherever you plant it, it will need something to grow up! When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.

Please note: All our Wisteria are grafted plants. Cheaper seed or cutting raise plants will take approx. 15 years to flower. Grafted plants will flower in around 2 years.
