PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Viburnum x bodnantense Dawn is probably one of the most popular winter flowering shrubs. Winter flowering Viburnum were first introduced from Northern China in 1910 by William Purdom, and later by William Farrer around 1921. Viburnum x bodnantense Dawn was the first named form of this superb, deciduous winter flowering shrub and has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Viburnum x bodnantense Dawn is an upright, vigorous plant that produces beautiful pink buds opening to near pure pink, highly fragrant flowers from November until early spring in steady succession on the bare wood. The flowers are quite striking in the winter landscape and are remarkably resilient to frost. The foliage has distinct veins that give it an attractive look and the young growth is a pleasing bronze colour. Easy to grow in a full sun to semi shade location in almost any soil. Can be grown as part of a mixed planting, as an individual specimen, or in a pot or container. Use a good quality compost and ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.

Please remember when purchasing from us that we are not a garden centre. In general garden centres sell a range of seasonal plants, that are sold for a limited period of time, when they look at their best. We are a nursery and offer you plants as near to an all year-round basis as possible. This means that at different times of year plants will not look at their best. In winter some may just be a pot of roots, in summer many will have been pruned and in autumn deciduous plants will have leaves that are dying and this will often mean they are mis-coloured and diseased, both natural ingredients of the process of decay and eventually renewal. All our plants have a one year, no quibble guarantee, from the date of order, so in the very unlikely event your poorly looking plant bought in autumn or winter (or in the case of some varieties, in summer) does not flourish in its main growing season, you are protected!
