Viburnum opulus Roseum - Gelder Rose - Plant in 2 L Pot
Viburnum opulus Roseum - Gelder Rose - Plant in 2 L Pot
Viburnum opulus are indigenous to the Uk and much of Europe, North America, North and West Asia and North Africa. They are a vigorous and spreading shrub that luxuriate in wet boggy soil, such as the clay that covers much of the Uk. They will grow well in other soil as well! Viburnum opulus Roseum (Sterile) is a superb cultivar that has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Viburnum opulus Roseum produces large numbers of flower heads of white snowball like flowers in May and June. Sometimes, depending on weather, these age to pink. This plant does not produce berries. In autumn the leaves colour to superb light purples and orange shades. A lovely shrub for the garden and excellent for boggy areas! Easy to grow in full sun or semi shade in almost any soils and will survive on heavy, wet clay soils. Can be grown in a pot or container. When growing in a pot or other container use a good quality John Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost.
