Trachelospermum jasminoides-40-60cm Star Jasmine in 14 cm Pot

A truly beautiful evergreen twining climber introduced in species form from China in 1844 by Robert Fortune. Also occurs naturally in Korea and Japan. Trachelospermum jasminoides has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. It has very attractive dark green foliage which is often suffused with red in winter (probably equivalent to our shivering) and an abundance of pure white, Jasmine like, highly fragrant flowers in summer and early autumn. This cultivar has a long flowering period and a very strong fragrance. It will cover any object it is given to climb over. Easy to grow in a sheltered, full sun or light shade location. Grows in most soils that are not water logged. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot. Wherever you plant it it will need something to grow up! When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality John Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots.
