Primula vulgaris - Common Primrose - Plant in 10.5 cm Pot
Primula vulgaris - Common Primrose - Plant in 10.5 cm Pot
Primula vulgaris are native to much of western Asia and temperate Europe including the Uk. except for the more northern areas of Scotland. A truly iconic plant as the herald of the arrival of spring. Primula vulgaris has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. While this plant is found extensively across the British Isles it is illegal to remove them from the wild so all our plants are seed raised here in our nursery. Abundant, beautiful, fragrant, pale yellow flowers with a deep yellow throat, on single stems, arise above the semi evergreen basal rosette as early as December and continue until May. In favourable conditions they will form large clumps. Requires semi shade and a moist location in acid to neutral soil. Does not grow well in chalky soils. Use in a mixed planting, or in groups where a massed effect can be quite stunning. Excellent in woodland settings. Primula vulgaris die back in summer. Plants will be showing healthy new growth from around mid August onwards, until the following early summer.
These 10.5cm pot size plants are large, well established plants that will flower in the coming season.
