Magnolia Fairy Cream - Magnolia - Plant in 3 L Pot

Magnolia Fairy Cream is a recent introduction from the well known New Zealand breeder, Mark Jury. A completely new concept in evergreen Magnolias, these splendid plants are more shrubs, as opposed to the more traditional tree forms of evergreen Magnolias. They make stunning large shrubs with luscious dark green leaves and in spring an abundance of fragrant creamy white flower that then appear intermittently until autumn. Excellent as individual specimens or in pots and planters on the patio. This plant make a superb, if rather expensive hedge! Easy to grow in a sunny or semi shade location. They are ericaceous so while they grow well in most fertile, free draining soils, they will not survive in soil with a high pH. Really a very beautiful shrub. This plant can be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality ericaceous John Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend the use of a controlled release fertiliser such as Osmocote 8-9 month, applied in mid spring. One application will supply all the nutrients required for a whole year. John Innes is a soil based compost.
