Magnolia Black Tulip - Magnolia - Grafted Plant in 1 L Pot
Magnolia Black Tulip - Magnolia - Grafted Plant in 1 L Pot
Magnolia Manchu Fan is a compact, small, upright deciduous large shrub. In spring, before the foliage emerges, a profusion of white tulip shaped flowers with a pink blush at the bottom of the petals, smother the tree. They hold their shape and are relatively long lasting. A lovely compact form of these highly popular plants. Easy to grow in a sun or semi shade location in most acid to neutral soils. Will not grow well in alkaline soils. Planted in a good location it is not likely to need pruning but this can be done sparingly after flowering and when all danger of frost has passed. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality ericaceous compost. This plant is not ericaceous but grows much better in an acidic compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
These are grafted plants to ensure they are true to type and long lasting. They are 70 to 80cm tall, three years old and have a single stem that has been stopped to produce a well branched large shrub.
