Hydrangea seemannii - Evergreen Climbing Hydrangea - Plant in 3 L Pot
Hydrangea seemannii - Evergreen Climbing Hydrangea - Plant in 3 L Pot
Rare in production in the Uk. Hydrangea seemanii was originally introduced around 1973 from Mexico. Easy to grow in even the toughest of locations and hardy to around RHS H4 (-10c to -5c) it makes a substantial framework, which clings to whatever support is provided, with aerial roots and is covered in attractive, large, glossy, deep green leaves all year. Spring is greeted with masses of dome shaped corymbs made up of striking white flowers. A vigorous growing plant providing dense cover. Will grow in full sun to full shade in most soils except those that waterlog. It can be grown in the garden or in a pot or container. In containers use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 12-14 month applied in early spring as buds swell. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. Prune immediately after flowering and remember, if you leave it too long before pruning, it is not a case of just cutting off the branches, you will also need to tug them off whatever they have clung to!
