Hydrangea paniculata Skyfall - Paniculate Hydrangea - Plant in 2 L Pot
Hydrangea paniculata are known for the sheer size and ''show'' power of their flowers. Originating in Japan, China and Taiwan, various breeding programmes have produced improved varieties. While these new varieties do not come cheap, as they are the product of many years of painstaking work, they do exhibit significant benefits when compared with the naturally evolved species. Hydrangea paniculata Skyfall is one such plant. A recent introduction bred by Guido Rouwette in the Netherlands, it is a quite outstanding compact, extended flowering plant. An amazing profusion of extra large, dome shaped heads of hyacinth shaped flowers, on sturdy stems, open from green buds. The flowers are initially white but flush pink with age and are produced for several months from midsummer. A superb border plant but compact enough for patio pots and containers where it will flower and flower. This plant can also be used for a high quality hedge. It is very hardy, withstanding frosts to around -25C. Easy to grow in sun or semi shade in most fertile, moist, free draining soils. If growing in a pot or container use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as such spectacular flower power makes this a hungry plant. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. If necessary prune after flowers have died off.
