Corylus avellana Contorta - Corkscrew Hazel - Grafted Plant in 2 L Pot
Corylus avellana Contorta - Corkscrew Hazel - Grafted Plant in 2 L Pot
Corylus avellana Contorta is derived from our native Hazel trees. A splendid plant with striking winter interest that has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. In late winter and early spring long golden yellow catkins droop from the bare, attractively twisted and semi-weeping branches. A worthy addition to any garden for all year round interest! It is also an excellent woodland plant where there is dappled shade. Favoured by florists for winter arrangements. Be sure to remove any suckers growing from below the graft. They are easy to tell as they grow straight, not twisted! Easy to grow in sun or semi shade in almost any soil that does not waterlog, including chalky soils. In containers, use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
This listing is for a grafted plant.
