Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. repens is native to California USA and has probably been grown in the Uk for over one hundred years. It has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. repens is a hardy evergreen shrub valued for its abundant, vibrant Cambridge blue springtime blooms and attractive ground covering growth, creating a colourful, dense, year round carpet effect. From late spring to early summer, dense clusters of small, blue flowers attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, creating a lively display. The dark green, glossy foliage provides a perfect backdrop to the brilliant blooms. Easy to grow in full sun or semi shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil, making it perfect for dry, coastal gardens or slopes. Its drought tolerance, low-maintenance nature, and ability to form a ground cover make it an excellent choice for adding both beauty and function to garden landscapes. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or a container. If planting in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 12-14 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
