Berberis thunbergii Atropurpurea Nana - Plant in 2 L Pot
Berberis thunbergii Atropurpurea Nana - Plant in 2 L Pot
Berberis is a large Genus with a wide distribution around the globe in temperate and sub tropical locations. Berberis thunbergii Atropurpurea Nana is a hardy, deciduous shrub that has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is grown for its stunning purple foliage and very compact habit. In spring it produces small pale yellow flowers followed by deep red berries. Leaves turn fiery red in autumn. This easy to grow variety will thrive in full sun or partial shade in most moist, free draining soils. A plant that makes a great addition to any planting scheme where the leaf colour is in the design theme. Superb as a contrast in plantings with other yellow leaved Berberis, where it should be positioned towards the front of the border. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. A hungry plant is a poor performer so we advise the addition of a controlled release fertiliser such as Osmocote pro 8-9 month formulation which will provide sufficient nutrients to last the whole year.
